Meet Andrew Haltof, DO

Osteopathic Medicine was founded on the principle that a person is one whole functional unit - body, mind, and spirit. Structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) are seen as united and inseparable, and the power and the wisdom for healing come from within the patient.

Dr. Haltof graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford Maine in 1993. He did his post-graduate training at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Bronx N.Y.

He is board certified in Neuromusculoskeletal

Medicine/Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine NMM/OMM, since

1999. He is on the faculty of the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation and teaches with the "A Still-Sutherland Study Group", as well as a Biodynamic Study Group.

Over the course of the past 20 years, Dr. Haltof's practice has been informed almost exclusively by the biodynamic model of Osteopathy. Dr. Haltof has been in private practice in Brunswick and then Auburn Maine since 1995.

WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

A blurred image of a wave on a white background.

Traditional Osteopathic Medicine is a philosophic approach to health, looking inside the patient for the force of healing. As the pioneering approach to true holistic medicine, it views an individual as a triune being, body, mind, and spirit. If we find strain in one part, all other parts must change their point of balance to compensate for that strain. Traditional Osteopathic Medicine addresses healing in all three areas, to facilitate the expression of health.

IS OSTEOPATHY FOR ME?

A blurred image of a wave on a white background.

Everyone benefits in some way from an osteopathic treatment. We see treatment as a means of restoring health, as opposed to fighting with disease. By working with the body's physiology in the removal of obstructions to normal physiologic function and the expression of health, the body's health will overwhelm the disease. In this way, osteopathic medicine truly is preventive medicine.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

has proven effective for treating many medical conditions, including:

" I am simply trying to teach you what you are; to get you to realize your right to health, and when you see the cures wrought here, after all other means have failed, you can but know that the foundation of my work is laid on nature's rock."
